Q&A session at Seaplane Harbour
Just a half a year ago, at the Spring of 2022, VIVITA design sprint took place at a unique venue — the Seaplane Harbour. The Vivinauts took part of a design sprint full of discoveries, what exhibition experience is made of and what problems occur during the experience. During the sprint kids themselves got to redefine those problems into bold ideas and ideate the solutions. The solutions were presented in a prototype form to Seaplane Harbour team in order to get the child’s perspective and innovative ideas straight from the source.
Last week the design sprint participants met again at Seaplane Harbour to see how the development process is gathering pace. The curator of the new permanent exhibition — Mihkel Karu — introduced how the process has developed so far and what is the vision for the new exhibition. The Vivinauts got feedback from the sprint and a brief of how their ideas and prototypes are integrated in the future plans.
The event was full of exiting examples from the museums from all over the world. One unique example was Artis Groote museum in Amsterdam. It is a nature museum, that has built it’s experience up on connections from nature. Every bird, animal, phenomen in nature is connected somehow. Either the connection is based on evolution, habitat, food chain or the natural circularity of materia — everything is connected. While discovering the museum’s exhibits, you can get the knowledge moving around from topic to topic and museum staff is there to help you connect the dot’s . Isn’t that inspiring?
We sure think so and can’t wait to see what the new Seaplane Harbour exhibition 2024 has to offer!
